Atticus as usual does not have a moment of peace. This time he has to fulfill several promises. And once that definitely will not be easy. And two that will give him even more enemies (yes, you can have even more enemies than Atticus so far). Idunn's first trip is waiting for Apple. Theoretically, shrinking an apple from a basket that is always full should not be so hard. With good winds nobody will notice it. Only did Atticus ever favors good winds? Just climbing Yggdrasil brings some problems, so at the entrance our glorious druid will seriously piss off the entire pantheon. And this is just the beginning, you still have to get to the apple, roll up the apple and in one piece back home. It will not be easy.
And it will be much more difficult to fulfill the other promise - helping to kill Thor. Many discourage Atticus this expedition, even Jesus Himself goes to Atticus for a beer to knock out those silly ideas from his head. But the promise is a promise. And even after two thousand years, the druid begins to show some mature behavior, including the responsibility for his Granunaile pupil, but feels obliged to embark on this potentially suicidal mission. And accompany him will be:
Gunnar Magnusson - Alfa local wat.
Leif Helgarson - friend and lawyer of Atticus, one of the most powerful vampires in the area.

Perun - Slavic god of lightning
Väinämöinen - immortal shaman and enchanter
Zhang Guo Lao - one of the Chinese Eight Immortals
Each of them wants to kill Thor and everyone has a reason for it. Everybody has dedicated a separate chapter in which he tells his story so we can understand why they feel so hateful of Thor. The most interesting for me was the story of Leif and Gunnar, which I know from the previous sections and I liked them very much. It was nice to finally find out more about them.
It is amazing that Hearne is still able to keep up the level and surprise the reader. Anyway, I have the impression that even if he did not keep that level, I would still be delighted. I love the connection and mixing all the myths and religions of the world. And Hearne does it so skillfully that we do not get one big chaos, only a very coherent story in which the gods coexist and most of the time do not even want to kill. And I just have to add that I was fascinated by the figure of Jesus, who is quite laid back warning Atticus before his death.
I also enjoy the fact that by teaching Granuaile, we too can explore the secrets of the oldest (and only) druid in the world.
Hearne's books have it all to themselves that they simply can not break away from them. His amazing imagination and light pen give the effect that a person would like to move to this world and stay there for some time. I guarantee you that every fan of fantasy will be delighted with this series.
And finally. He sticks to the chair decisively. Mr. Hearne, how can you finish a book in such a way and leave the reader in uncertainty!
I recommend hot, it's definitely one of the best fantasy series of recent years!
